September 13, 2011 - The Walker County Board of Education is teaming up with local author Edie Hand in an effort to positively affect students in the area.
The “You Pave the Way” program is designed to assist students and their parents with issues affecting young people. The program is based on Hand’s book “31 Things to Raise a Child’s Self Esteem” and will kick off locally Tuesday night with an event at the Sumiton Community Center.
Additional Speaking Programs will be at these Walker County schools (Dates may be subject to change)
Sept 13 - T. S. Boyd (Pre K- 8)
September 20th Curry Elementary school in cafeteria, 
Sept 27 - Curry High (9-12 grades) and Sipsey (Pre K- 8) in the Gym
October 19th- Sumiton Christian School
Oct. 25 - Cordova High, Middle & Elementary along with Valley School in the the Gymnasium
Nov 6th - Florence Library
Nov. 8th - All Oakman Schools and all three Parrish Schools in the Gym
November Date TBD: Sumiton middle, Dora & TS Boyd schools (Special lunch event),
December 2nd - Jasper Library 11:30 am to 2:30 pm
December 3rd- Huntsville (location information will be posted soon)
December 6th - Carbon Hill, Lupton and Orphanage in Eldridge. All Walker County Schools.

October 13th - Launch into Jefferson County Schools. In acknowledgement of the work Dove has been doing to help young women across the country we invite you to view their activity and information guides.
October 6 & 7th: Austin Texas Alliance for Women in Media and high school and College to help young Girls with their self-esteem
October 19th -Sumiton Christian helping to build Girls and boys Self-Esteem
October 26: Sumiton Christian to help build Senior High Girls Self-Esteem
November 3rd -New York Alliance for Women in Media
February 4 & 5th 2012- Las Vegas at the National Auto Dealers Convention - Women’s Automotive Alliance event
