Independent recording artist, Robbie Rhodes “NEXT Christmas” album is now available for purchase and proceeds benefit the Edie Hand Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Rhodes’ original song, “Let’s Play Jingle Bells,” and a new arrangement of “You’re All I Want for Christmas/This Year,” will be the first singles from the CD released to radio.  This stellar charity album also includes renditions of seasonal classics like, “O Holy Night,” “What Child is This” and “Do You Hear What I Hear?”  Robbie will play select tour dates across the country to support this release. The You Pave The Way Event on October 20th, 2012 at Scott Crump Toyota was a Great Success.

To show their support for both the You Pave the Way program and the local theater group, Corner Theatre Academy, Scott Crump Toyota Scion donated $5 when someone took a test drive in one of their vehicles.

Linc Hand, local actor who is coming on strong in Hollywood also appeared at this event. Linc can be seen in the upcoming movie, "42" about Jackie Robinson's first year in the Major Leagues. Watch the movie trailer where link appears pitching to Jackie.

September 13, 2011 - The Walker County Board of Education is teaming up with local author Edie Hand in an effort to positively affect students in the area.

The “You Pave the Way” program is designed to assist students and their parents with issues affecting young people. The program is based on Hand’s book “31 Things to Raise a Child’s Self Esteem” and will kick off locally Tuesday night with an event at the Sumiton Community Center.

Additional Speaking Programs will be at these Walker County schools (Dates may be subject to change)

Sept 13 - T. S. Boyd (Pre K- 8)

September 20th Curry Elementary school in cafeteria,

Sept 27 - Curry High (9-12 grades) and Sipsey (Pre K- 8) in the Gym

October 19th- Sumiton Christian School

Oct. 25 - Cordova High, Middle & Elementary along with Valley School in the the Gymnasium

Nov 6th - Florence Library

Nov. 8th - All Oakman Schools and all three Parrish Schools in the Gym

November Date TBD: Sumiton middle, Dora & TS Boyd schools (Special lunch event),

December 2nd - Jasper Library 11:30 am to 2:30 pm
