The Walker County Board of Education is teaming up with local author Edie Hand in an effort to positively affect students in the area.

The “You Pave the Way” program is designed to assist students and their parents with issues affecting young people. The program is based on Hand’s book “31 Things to Raise a Child’s Self Esteem” and will kick off locally Tuesday night with an event at the Sumiton Community Center.

Maddox Middle School sixth graders learned about the four c's --
confidence, choices, courage and character -- from local author Edie Hand last
week.
Hand's presentation was the launch of her "You Pave the Way"
program in area schools.
It is based on her book "31 Things to Raise a
Child's Self-esteem," which she co-wrote with clinical psychologist Dr. Judy
Kuriansky.
